About the role
We need someone who can bridge the gap between business and technology. You’ll work with clients to understand their challenges, map their workflows, identify what’s actually causing problems, and help shape solutions that fit how they really work.
This is part detective, part translator, part strategist. You’ll spend time with business owners and their teams, asking questions, observing how things work, and figuring out where technology can make a genuine difference.
What you’ll do
- Discovery workshops: Lead structured conversations with clients to understand their business, their challenges, and their goals.
- Workflow mapping: Document how things currently work, identify pain points, and spot opportunities for improvement.
- Requirements translation: Turn business problems into clear technical requirements that our development team can work with.
- Solution design: Help shape what we build. Not the technical architecture, but the overall approach and feature set.
- Stakeholder management: Keep clients informed, manage expectations, and ensure everyone’s aligned on what we’re building and why.
What we’re looking for
Core skills
- Business process understanding: You can look at how a business operates and quickly identify what’s working and what’s not.
- Workshop facilitation: You’re comfortable leading conversations, asking probing questions, and getting to the heart of the problem.
- Clear documentation: You can take complex workflows and turn them into clear, actionable documentation.
- Stakeholder communication: You can talk to CEOs and operations staff equally well. You adapt your communication style to your audience.
- Critical thinking: You don’t just accept what people say at face value. You dig deeper to understand the real problem.
Experience we value
- Background in business analysis, product management, or consulting
- Experience working with SMBs or professional services firms
- Understanding of common business software (CRMs, ERPs, practice management systems)
- Some technical knowledge (you don’t need to code, but you should understand what’s possible and what’s not)
- Process improvement or operational excellence experience
What matters most
- Curiosity: You genuinely want to understand how businesses work and where they struggle.
- Empathy: You can see things from the client’s perspective and understand their constraints.
- Pragmatism: You focus on what will actually help, not what sounds impressive.
- Clear communication: You can explain complex ideas simply without dumbing them down.
- Low ego: You’re comfortable saying “I don’t know” and learning as you go.
What we offer
- Flexible part-time or contract arrangement (20-30 hours per week, negotiable)
- Remote-first (work from anywhere in Australia)
- Direct client access (no layers of management)
- Variety (different industries, different challenges)
- Autonomy (we trust you to run the process)
- Impact (you’ll see the direct result of your work)
Not a fit if
- You prefer working within established methodologies and frameworks rather than adapting to the situation
- You want to focus on large enterprise clients with formal procurement processes
- You’re uncomfortable with ambiguity or prefer highly structured environments
- You want clear career progression and management opportunities
- You prefer purely technical work over client-facing business work
